counseling, legal advocacy, community outreach and educational programs.
Scope of Service
For more than 35 years, RESPOND has expanded its partnerships and
internal resources to address emerging community needs. Through new
outreach, training and hotline initiatives, RESPOND has reached across
city and state boundaries to develop a national and statewide presence
among domestic violence service providers. RESPOND continues to broaden
the scope of initiatives against violence to include undeserved populations
such as immigrants, persons with disabilities, lesbians, bisexuals
and transgendered people. Currently, all services are available in Spanish, English,
Portuguese, French and Haitian Creole.
Service Area
RESPOND has offices in Somerville and Malden and serves these areas as well
as Everett, Melrose, Medford, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester
and Woburn, Massachusetts. RESPOND often provides services to survivors and their
children who reside outside these towns. The agency also conducts outreach and
preventative educational programs across the region and U.S.
Who We Serve
Each year, RESPOND serves more than 5,000 individuals and their children. Since its inception in 1974, RESPOND has assisted over 65,000 survivors and members of the community.
